Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each. The game takes place on a field with a diamond-shaped layout, consisting of four bases: home plate, first base, second base, and third base. The objective is to score runs by hitting a pitched ball with a bat and running around the bases to reach home plate. One team plays offense, attempting to score runs, while the other plays defense, trying to get offensive players “out” through various means such as catching the ball, throwing it to bases, or striking them out with pitches. The game is typically played in nine innings, with each team having a turn to bat and field in each inning. Baseball is particularly popular in the United States and is often referred to as America’s pastime. The sport has a rich history, numerous professional leagues, and a strong cultural significance, characterized by its unique rules, statistics, and traditions.
