Cricket

Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, on a circular or oval-shaped field. The game involves a rectangular 22-yard-long pitch at its center, where the main action occurs. One team, known as the batting side, aims to score runs by hitting a ball bowled at them with a bat and running between two sets of three wooden stumps, called wickets. The opposing team, known as the bowling and fielding side, tries to dismiss the batters by hitting the wickets with the ball or by various other means, such as catching a ball after it’s hit but before it touches the ground.

Cricket matches can take several formats, including Test matches, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 (T20) cricket, varying in length and rules. The game is governed internationally by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and is particularly popular in countries such as India, Australia, England, and Pakistan. The complexity of the rules, the strategy involved, and the international competitions make cricket a beloved sport worldwide.
