Environment

The term “environment” refers to the sum total of all external conditions and influences affecting the life and development of individual organisms and communities. It encompasses the natural surroundings, including land, water, air, and living organisms, as well as the social, economic, and cultural factors that influence ecosystems. The environment serves as the context in which various biological, geological, and climatic processes occur and impacts the interactions between living beings and their surroundings. It can be broadly divided into two main categories: the natural environment, which includes ecosystems, biodiversity, and physical elements like climate and geography; and the built or artificial environment, which involves human-made spaces, infrastructure, and urban development. The concept of the environment is central to discussions on sustainability, conservation, and ecological balance, highlighting the importance of protecting and preserving natural resources for future generations.
