Soccer

Soccer, also known as football in most countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net, primarily by using feet, although players may also use other parts of their bodies except for their arms and hands (with the exception of the goalkeeper, who can use their hands within a designated area).

The game is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end, and it is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game. Soccer is one of the most popular sports globally, known for its widespread following, especially in regions such as Europe, South America, Africa, and Asia. Matches can vary in length, but a standard game consists of two 45-minute halves, with potential additional time depending on circumstances such as injuries.

The sport emphasizes skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting, as well as strategies for teamwork and defense. Major international competitions, such as the FIFA World Cup, showcase the sport at the highest levels, drawing large audiences and passionate fan engagement.
