Serie A

Serie A is the top professional football (soccer) league in Italy, organized by the Lega Serie A. It is one of the most prestigious and competitive leagues in the world, widely regarded for its high level of play and historical significance. Serie A consists of 20 teams that compete annually, with each team playing the others twice, once at home and once away, for a total of 38 matches in a season. The league operates on a promotion and relegation system with Serie B, meaning the lowest-performing teams at the end of the season are relegated to the lower division, while the top teams from Serie B are promoted to Serie A. The league has produced many of the world’s greatest players and clubs, contributing significantly to both national and international football. Each season, the team with the most points is crowned the champion, earning the Scudetto, and qualifications for European competitions such as the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League are also determined based on performance in the league.
