Global Warming

Global warming refers to the long-term increase in Earth’s average surface temperature due primarily to human activities, particularly the emission of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4). These gases trap heat in the atmosphere, leading to a “greenhouse effect” that causes temperatures to rise. Global warming is a significant aspect of climate change, which encompasses broader shifts in climate patterns, including changes in precipitation, sea-level rise, and increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. The phenomenon is mainly driven by the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, and various industrial processes. Global warming poses serious risks to ecosystems, biodiversity, and human health, prompting global initiatives and agreements aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating its impacts.
