Oath Keepers

Oath Keepers is a far-right organization in the United States composed primarily of current and former military, police, and first responders. It was founded in 2009 by Elmer Stewart Rhodes. The group promotes a strict interpretation of the U.S. Constitution, particularly focusing on the Second Amendment, and asserts that its members should resist orders they believe are unconstitutional. Oath Keepers members often claim to uphold their oaths to defend the Constitution against perceived threats, which they interpret broadly. The organization has been involved in various protests and has gained notoriety for its participation in events such as the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots. The group is often associated with militia movements and has been described as an extremist group by various organizations monitoring domestic terrorism and hate groups.
